At maybe.for.you., we understand the building blocks of SUCCESS. After all, we built them.

The business-to-consumer email relationship can be a tricky thing—the wrong subject line or design choice can put your communication in the SPAM folder, not to mention damage your brand's credibility. To help its employees craft more successful correspondences, Nextel was interested in creating a functional application that would take email communication to the next level.

The Nextel SUCCESS program was designed to help the average sales associate stay within certain legal and corporate guidelines when drafting a customer email. Working with agency partner Deardorff Communications, maybe.for.you. created an online application that delivered a richer, more flexible user experience.

The SUCCESS application enables sales associates to build custom HTML email templates that are both brand-specific and appropriately formatted. The online application would allow users to customize direct marketing emails, while at the same time adhering to a uniform brand tone, CAN-SPAM policies, and best-practices.

Before we started designing the application, maybe.for.you. took a moment to interview the people who would be using the application: the Nextel sales associates. We asked them what they needed, and how familiar they were with HTML and programming language. These interviews would lead us to design features like Outlook integration, so associates could use their existing contact lists.

One of the biggest challenges was balancing the requirements of the legal and marketing teams. Outside of CAN-SPAM policies, there were a lot of other legal restrictions that we had to integrate into the application: Nextel's corporate "no solicit" database for example. The marketing department needed more creative flexibility with the application's content management system in order to update promotional offers and creative assets within the application.

Because the emphasis was on the user, maybe.for.you. tested several prototypes before moving onto the design stage. This ensured the SUCCESS platform would be as easy-to-use and flexible as possible for optimum click-thrus and user interaction.
