Our primary challenge was coming up with a strategic solution that made it easy for customers to see Meridian’s innovative approach to bringing people and politics together to solve complex issues across a number of focus areas.

Overview

Meridian Institute helps its partners solve critical and complex problems in areas of agriculture, climate change, healthcare, oceans and forest, and science and technology. Over the years, they have established themselves as a leader in helping shape policies and implement solutions that produce tangible results. However, their digital presence was outdated and falling short in explaining their position as longtime industry pioneers.

Looking for a significant change, we partnered with Briteweb to help update Meridian’s digital strategy and the user experience of a new website that would modernize the brand and clearly articulate what they do.

Creating A Presence With Personality

During discovery, it became obvious that while people who have worked with Meridian knew what they were capable of, their digital presence didn’t reflect the full impact of their work or the services they provided. The most important and compelling parts of who they are, and the work they had done, were difficult to access and full of jargon and abstract concepts that lacked clear content and made them difficult to understand. Plus their visual identity was dated, no longer representing who they were, and failed to set them apart from similar organizations.

Together with our friends at Briteweb, we helped Meridian address all of this with a modern, responsive website that organized content around key categories to help guide visitors to the information they were seeking with ease.

Building Strategy, Consistency, And Clarity Into Design

To address the confusion and disconnect around their work, we helped Meridian create a new strategy for their case studies that put past clients at the center of the conversation, making it easier for prospects to visualize what it’s like to work with Meridian. Based on this strategy we designed a template to ensure it would be easy to apply with consistency throughout the site.

Then, to showcase Meridian’s expanding global reach, we came up with a way of displaying projects on an interactive map, making it easy for users to see how Meridian’s work has addressed issues and had a meaningful impact throughout the world.

Finally, we helped create a framework of templates, interactive elements, and user experience guidelines that Meridian could use to support sub-brands and launch microsites for individual funds. This provided them with a cost-effective solution for scaling and expanding their digital footprint while remaining consistent with the main website.

Now, as visitors drill down into more specific and relevant details, Meridian is able to deliver a much more targeted message that resonates with their customers and gives them a strong sense that Meridian truly is at the top of their industry. Six months after launch the new website has seen a 12% increase in new users to the website, a 22% increase in page views, and a 25% increase in session duration.
